WI vs IND Test 2023: India Squad, Captain, Playing 11, Players List: On 23 June, BCCI announced the Squad of India for two match test series and the three-match ODI series against West Indies in July and August.
India and West Indies will start their World Test Championship cycle 2023-25 from the Test series, scheduled from 12 July in Dominica. The ODI series is important for both to prepare them for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 in October.
Team India made some big changes in the test squad after losing the WTC Final against Australia at The Oval. The most skilful and dependable batsman Cheteshwar Pujara has been dropped from the squad. The performance of Pujara in the last ten innings was poor, he scored at an average of 20.13, and in 2021, his average is 31.45.
Cheteswar Pujara played 103 test matches in his career, scoring 7195 runs at an average of 43.60. Uncapped players Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad are added to the squad for the West Indies Tour.
Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad are included in the Test Squad of the Indian Team after playing outstandingly in IPL 2023. In IPL 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal played 14 matches in which he scored 625 runs at an average of 48.07, whereas Ruturaj Gaikwad played 16 matches in which he scored 590 runs at an average of 42.14.
Skipper Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian Team for the Test and ODI series against West Indies. After having a Phenomenal Performance in the WTC Final 2023, Indian Team choose Ajinkya Rahane as a Vice Captain for the Test series. West Indies Tour is crucial for Rohit Sharma from a Captain’s point of view after losing the WTC Final against Australia.
Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav rested due to World Cup 2023
Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav are rested for the West Indies tour. Team management gave more chances to young players for the upcoming series. Naveedp Saini and Mukesh Kumar are added to the test squad instead of Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav. The selector decides to rest Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami, considering the preparation for World Cup 2023.
