West Indies announces 15-member Squad for Test Series against India | India vs West Indies 2023

IND vs WI 2023: On 8 July, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) announced the squad of the West Indies Team for the Test series against India, which was scheduled from 12 July to 25 July 2023. This series was a part of the World Test Championship 2023-25.

The first Test match between India and West Indies is scheduled from 12 July to 17 July at Windsor Park, Dominica. Kraigg Braithwaite will lead the Team in the Test series against World No. 1 Test side India.  

WICB added two new debutants to their squad for the Test series. Their coach said that All-rounder Akeem Jordan and Wicket Keeper batsman Tevin Imlach played fantastic cricket in first class and that they will learn a lot from this test series against the Strong side of India.

After failing to qualify for the World Cup 2023, the WI will play their First match of WTC Cycle 2023-25 at home. Both the team are going to play the first match of the World Test Championship Cycle 2023-25. India will play its first away match, While West Indies will play its first home match.

Indian Team has never lost any test match against West Indies in Test Cricket since 2002. The host will try to change this record against India and try to reduce the dominance of India. 

On the last Tour, India defeated WI in the Test series by 2-0 and is expected to repeat the same performance in the upcoming match. India lost the WTC Final against Australia at Oval, London, by 224 runs. West Indies failed to secure their spot in the top two of the World Test Championship 2021-23.

Kraigg Brathwaite (C), Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Jermaine Blackwood (VC), Raymon Reifer, Joshua Da Silva (WK), Shannon Gabriel, Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Kirk McKenzie, Kemar Roach, Alick Athanaze, Rahkeem Cornwall, Jomel Warrican.
