ACC approved Hybrid model proposal of Pakistan to host Asia Cup 2023 with co-host Sri Lanka. Pakistan will host four matches of Asia Cup whereas Sri Lanka will host nine matches including the Final.
The concept of the Asia Cup came from the Asian Games. In 1983, Asia Cricket Council(ACC) was formed by Asian countries to promote Cricket in Asia. Asia Cup is played every year in 50 overs format or 20 overs format at different venues in Asia.

2023 Asia Cup Format:
The Asian Cricket Council confirmed that 2023 Asia Cup would be played in a 50-overs format like One Day International Cricket. But last year, ACC conducted the Asia Cup in 20 overs format because of the T20 Cricket World Cup 2022. Asia Cup 2023 will be played in September ahead of ODI World Cup 2023. So, Teams are focusing on the 50-overs format.
